Pilates of Brighton is a member of the Melbourne Pilates Group. With eight fully equipped Pilates studios in prime locations across Melbourne we offer you flexibility & choice.  We have Pilates studios in Brighton, Elsternwick, South Yarra, Armadale, Albert Park, Black Rock, Kew and Mornington.  All of our instructors are members of respected industry bodies such as Stott Pilates,  Australian Pilates Method Association (APMA) & Pilates Alliance Australiasia, offering you the highest standards of instruction available.

The Melbourne Pilates Group offers a personal experience.  Small class sizes allow our Pilates instructors to focus on your individual needs.  You'll start your Pilates journey with a private initial consultation.  During this session your instructor will assess you, including posture, current health & fitness, experience of Pilates & reasons for starting Pilates at Pilates of Brighton. This information is then used to design your personalised program. Our central online booking system allows all of our instructors to access your program details during any class in any location.

Pilates is known for improving core strength, flexibility, coordination and lengthening and streamlining the body.  Many of our clients at Brighton use Pilates for general conditioning, but we can also build programs for specific rehabilitation of injuries and conditions.  Pilates can also invigorate and energise the body through improved breathing styles and a mind-body focus that stimulates circulation and enhances body awareness.  The Pilates practice  of specific exercises and breathing patterns yields numerous benefits if practiced regularly.  Posture, balance, control and core strength are all improved.  Specific skills can be enhanced while cross training in the Pilates studio, with injury rehabilitation and prevention programs  also high on the list.  Tailored programs are designed in consultation with the client's medical practitioner or conditioning coach.

Pilates is not a gym or aerobics style class.  It is also not a physiotherapy treatment.  Professional Pilates Instructors specialise in movement analysis and their prescription of exercises are designed to create balance, strength, flexibility and coordination for each client.  Incorrect movement patterns and muscle imbalances will lead to injuries and postural problems and each Pilates program is designed and personally tailored to suit the individual client's needs.
Exercises are performed on the mat as well as specifically designed apparatus like the Reformer, Trapeze Table and Wunda-Chair.
